The park surrounding the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall located on Dongfeng Zhong Lu is now open to the public for free as of Nov. 1st. The main building and historical exhibition hall are not included as part of the new measure, according to staff from the hall.

The Memorial Hall is a major national cultural relic of Guangdong Province. It was designed by Mr. Lu Yanzhi, a reputable Chinese architect, and sponsored by the local people of Guangzhou and overseas Chinese to commemorate Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the great forerunner of the Chinese Revolution.

The Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall is composed of the arch over the gateway, the Memorial Hall (main building) and accessory buildings which are located to the east and west of the Hall. The ancient Imperial Palace accounts for 12,000 square meters of the six hectare complex.

Up until 6 p.m. on Nov. 1st some 9,000 people visited the Hall, four times more than on average days. However, many citizens look forward to the day when all of the buildings at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall Park are open free to public.
